Peppermint Bark

A delicious holiday treat that's even better with a big mug of hot chocolate.

  • Yields 2 pounds bark
Peppermint Bark
  • Line a 13x9 inch baking pan with wax paper.
  • 1 pound semi-sweet baking chocolate or milk chocolate, chopped
  • In a double boiler, melt chocolate, stirring frequently, until smooth.
  • Pour chocolate into lined baking pan.
  • 1 pound white baking chocolate squares, chopped
  • In a double boiler, melt white chocolate, stirring frequently, until smooth.
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
  • Stir extract into white chocolate until combined.
  • Slowly pour white chocolate over semi-sweet chocolate on baking sheet. Swirl chocolates together with a knife.
  • ½ cup peppermint candy canes, crushed
  • Sprinkle chocolate with crushed candy. Chill until firm, about one hour or longer.
  • Use wax paper to lift bark from baking sheet; break into pieces. Store tightly covered at room temperature.
